Pocket Haven

Effective 14 October 2026

Privacy policy

Pocket Haven is a focus timer made by Hieu Vi, an independent developer (“I” below). This page says what the app keeps, what leaves your phone, and why. The short version: there is no Pocket Haven account or server, your room stays on your phone unless you back it up to your own Google Drive, and crash reports are sent only if you agree.

What stays on your phone

Everything you make in Pocket Haven is saved on your phone, and in your own Google Drive only if you turn on Google Drive backup (below):

  • your room, your furniture, your credits and your goal;
  • your sessions and their history, and your streak;
  • your settings, including your language, theme and whether crash reports are on;
  • whether you have bought Pro, and your Google Play billing country. The country lets the Phố cổ collection open for free in Vietnam.

I can’t see any of this. There is no Pocket Haven account and no Pocket Haven server.

To tell whether you’ve left the app during a session, Pocket Haven checks on the phone whether it is still on screen, whether the screen is on and whether you’re in a call. That check never leaves the phone.

The room’s weather follows the climate of your phone’s time zone. Pocket Haven doesn’t use your location.

When something leaves your phone

Crash reports, only if you agree. Pocket Haven asks once, after you have first looked around your home, whether it may send crash reports. They stay off until you say yes, and closing the question counts as no. You can change your answer at any time in Settings › Privacy › Send crash reports.

When crash reports are on and the app hits an error, it sends a short technical report to Sentry, the service I use to find and fix crashes. A report holds:

  • what went wrong: the error message and where in the app’s code it happened;
  • the app’s version and update;
  • your phone’s model and Android version, and technical details at the time of the error, such as free memory, the language and the time zone;
  • the time of the error;
  • a random id made for this install of the app, so I can tell how many phones a crash reaches. It isn’t tied to you, your Google account or your phone’s own ids, and reinstalling the app makes a new one.

While crash reports are on, the app also tells Sentry each time it opens and closes, with the app’s version and that same install id, so I can see how often using the app ends in a crash. Nothing else is in it.

None of this holds an account, name or email, or anything about your room or your sessions. Sentry sees the internet address a report comes from, as any server does; the app never asks it to keep that address, and I have told Sentry not to store it.

Reports are stored with Sentry in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany) and deleted after 30 days. Sentry processes them for me only to show me crashes. It doesn’t sell them or use them for advertising. Its own policy: sentry.io/privacy.

Google Drive backup, only if you sign in. In Settings › Google Drive backup you can sign in with your Google account, so your room comes back on a new phone. It is off until you sign in. When you do:

  • Google tells the app your name, email address and profile photo. They are shown in Settings and kept on your phone only; the photo is deleted when you sign out. They are never sent to me.
  • The app reads your Google account’s id once, on the phone, and keeps only a scrambled stamp of it (a one-way hash) inside your save, so the save can only be brought back with the same account.
  • Your save (the same game a save file holds, never your Pro purchase or your phone’s settings) and a small picture of your room are kept in a hidden app folder in your own Google Drive. Only Pocket Haven can open that folder, it counts toward your Drive storage, and it is sent over an encrypted connection. It updates after a session, when you leave the app, and when you tap Back up now.
  • The app asks Google only for access to its own folder, never to your other Drive files. Google handles your account and your Drive under its own privacy policy. There is no Pocket Haven server, so I can’t see your backup.

Buying Pro. Purchases go through Google Play, and Google handles the payment under its own privacy policy. The app keeps only Google’s confirmation of the purchase on your phone, so it can restore Pro if you reinstall.

App updates. To download small updates, the app asks Expo’s update service whether a newer version exists (Expo’s privacy policy). The request carries the app’s version and nothing about you.

Backup. If backup is on in your phone’s settings, Android may copy the app’s save to your own Google Drive backup, as it does for other apps. That copy is yours, under Google’s policy, and I can’t see it. When you choose Export save, the file goes wherever you choose to keep it.

Notifications and alarms

Pocket Haven asks to send notifications, so it can tell you when a session or a break ends and warn you if you leave in the middle of one. It also asks to schedule exact alarms (Alarms & reminders), so the end-of-session notification arrives on time even when the phone is asleep. Both are optional: without them the app still works, and the notification may arrive late.

Your choices

  • Turn crash reports off in Settings › Privacy › Send crash reports. Nothing more is sent from then on.
  • Delete your data. Settings › Reset room clears the room, and uninstalling the app removes everything it keeps on your phone. Sentry deletes crash reports after 30 days. They carry no name or account, only the random install id, which the app never shows you, so I can’t find one person’s reports; but if you write to me with the date and your phone model, I will delete any I can match.
  • Take your room with you. Turn on Google Drive backup and sign in with the same account on your new phone. Or Settings › Your save › Export save makes a file you can import on another phone signed in with the same Google account. Backup, Export and Import are free for everyone.
  • Delete your cloud save. Settings › Google Drive backup › Delete cloud save deletes the copy in your Drive and removes the app’s access. You can also delete it in Google Drive’s settings under Manage apps, or remove Pocket Haven’s access at myaccount.google.com. Signing out keeps your room on the phone and stops new backups.

Children

Pocket Haven is not made for children under 13 and doesn’t knowingly collect anything from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date, and the app will ask again before sending anything it didn’t send before.
